A China-bound Iraqi Airways flight from Baghdad was diverted to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Wednesday night as a passenger fell ill before it was expected to land.
The flight, which had 100 passengers and 15 crew members on board, was diverted to Kolkata just half-an-hour before it was scheduled to land in Guangzhou, after a passenger fell ill.
The passenger, Dekan Sameer Ahmed, fell inside the aircraft, following which it made an emergency landing at around 10.18 am on Wednesday.
Upon landing at the airport, a medical team from the Airport Health Organization (APHO) responded to the incident and found that she didn’t have a pulse. She was rushed to the nearest hospital and is being treated there.
The flight took-off from Kolkata at around 1.50 am on Thursday with 97 passengers.
